From a 1999 game…
Wales scored a last-minute try against England at Wembley
No particular relevance to the England game tonight (that nearly wore out my F5 key - French TF1 had decided not to show the match…) - I just find it funny.
An Acer laptop for €200, anyone?
According to the story here (in Fench), a guy bought a laptop preloaded with Windows and several other non-free programs. Althought he asked Acer, the seller, to not sell him the software, they refused - so he took them to court. The company was found guilty of forced sales and had to pay the guy nearly €400.00 - the public price of the software (plus costs and damages…)
So there you have it. Does this mean that we will eventually be able to buy PCs in France without paying the Redmond tax?
Well.
I was going to write a post about how despite an injury-ridden team, England defended well and were not left behind on the scoreboard.
I’m not, am I?
I’m not even going to write about Jason Robinson - the French love giving rugby players nicknames, but Jason Robinson was always Jason Robinson - incomparable! My gut is telling me that he won’t be playing for Queen and Country again - Mr Robinson, we salute you!
South Africa 36, England nil.
Oy!
Come on, England!
shit.
no other comment possible.
Are you holding your breath?
England SA starts in 11 minutes, if my computer is to be believed.
This could be the first big match of the tournament. It could also be another disappointment.
Time will tell. That is, the next 80 minutes will tell.
TF1, the largest French broadcaster, has at least condescended to show the match…
Better or Worse?
Here’s an interesting stat.
For the first 12 matches of the 2007 RWC, the average point difference is 30.08
For the first 12 matches of the 2003 RWC, the average point difference was 39.25
We’ll see if this trend continues. What does it mean, though? Are the ‘top tier’ rugby nations off their form? Are smaller nations getting better? Have coaches told their teams not to go for that 15th try? Is the timetable simply different?
To put things into perspective, scoring at least 9 points is scoring a converted try plus a penalty, or two unconverted tries, or an unconverted try plus two penalties, or three penalties (or field goals, of course).
Why am I not surprised?
England’s (non) performance against the Eagles left me less than astonished, I have to say. This is a team which should have walked all over the plucky outsiders, yet instead, dropped the ball (often literally).
England 28, USA 10
I had a small bet on that the US would reach 10 points. At least I won that ![]()
Grrrr
Why isn’t TF1, here in France, transmitting the England match?
And why can’t I get Eurosport without paying for the whole of Canal Sat?
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
No surprises
Thirteen tries were scored in Marseille this afternoon, 11 for NZ and 2 for Italy, who had the merit of not giving up….
A real spectator’s match !
