Back from Brighton

without comments

I’ve been as busy as a one-armed paperhanger over the last few weeks! I have been running a language camp in the UK, which went rather well, considering that the last two staff members were recruited less than 24 hrs before the train left Gare du Nord…
As you may remember from this post, we create a website for camps so that the parents can check out their kids. Well, because of various problems, I ended up having to do that myself (I would normally delegate it…).
It’s becoming a 5 step job, though.
1. Put the photos on the PC and chuck the crap ones.
2. Run a script.
3. Use Konqueror’s Image Gallery tool.
4. Open the resulting page with Kate and add a few comments and descriptions.
5. FTP the folder to the server.
The beauty of all this is that you only actually have to be in front of the PC for a few secs at a time - that’s an advantage, because you can run a staff meeting at the same time, or wander round the corridors chasing kids back to bed, or take them for long walks over the Downs, or to the beach, or whatever… The next step is to write a script that does the ftp bit automatically. rsync is not an option, I think, unfortunately.

And next time, I’ll know how to use the (completely undocumented, AFAIK) comment file that the Konqueror Image Gallery proposes…

There should be a few posts about the actual camp in the next couple of weeks!
